Spain's most exciting hike: Caminito del Rey

Anyone who loves adventure must, without a doubt, someday walk the Caminito del Rey. Until a few years ago, this King's Trail still carried the title "most dangerous hiking trail in Europe. Since then, the trail has been restored and made safe to the point where anyone can walk it without risking their life.

Set aside about two and a half to three hours to hike entire trail at a leisurely pace. Be amazed by an ultimate experience: you will walk along the edge of a gorge during this hike, which makes for impressive views!

Good to know:

  • the walking route is from A to B from north to south.
  • at the terminus there is a shuttle bus that will take you to the starting point in 10 minutes.
  • the caminito is 7.7 kilometers long.
  • no admission for children under 8 years old, ID papers may be asked for.
  • bring good closed shoes and plenty of water (beach slippers are not allowed).
  • Schedule ticket purchases with sufficient time in advance due to a maximum number of visitors per day.
  • tickets can be purchased through the official ticket site as well as through various travel agents. Should the tickets through the official site be sold out please contact us.
  • try to do the caminito early in the day. That leaves time for swimming or kayaking in the reservoirs of El Chorro or or a bite to eat.

Campsites: Camping Parque Ardales. This campground is within walking distance of the meeting point for the caminito. Preferably book in advance because the number of RV sites is limited. You can also buy a day pass at the reception and park the camper at the campsite.
