This route through the northeast of Spain goes through Pamplona crossing mountain roads into the famous wine region of Rioja, before driving down the rugged north coast with the town of San Sebastian for a must see visit. Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia all offer natural beauty, peace and space. But also culture, such as the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. We also travel along picturesque fishing villages, such as San Vicente de la Barquera and one of the most beautiful villages of the north: Santillana del Mar.
Not to be missed is the route through the impressive ‘Picos de Europa’ at the Parque de Covadonga, where old mountain villages alternate with exuberant nature. After visiting Galicia, we will soon cross over to Portugal to visit the Parque de Montesinho via Porto. On the route are many campsites, photostops and overnight places for motorhomes!
Alternative itinerary: If time does not allow you to travel all this, take the following shorter route. After the “Picos” you turn via Gijón to Oviedo, and then to Zamora. Especially between Mieres and Léon you will be rewarded with the most beautiful views of the Cordillera Cantábrica.
